It is so much better when you have time to make your own spaghetti sauce. The store-bought version is ok for those days when you need a quick meal …but, nothing compares to homemade! This recipe is hearty and full of flavor and oh so good on top of your favorite pastas. I used canned tomatoes, which is what I had on hand, but you could use fresh tomatoes as well …even better!
Both of my sons love this recipe. It has just the right amount of tomato flavor and spices to make your taste buds sing. It is easy to make and always a popular meal for family and friends. Serve with your favorite pasta and garlic bread, yummy!
Today I am sharing this with my favorite link up party, Fiesta Friday!! I hope you get a chance to try it and enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
Thanks for visiting!

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small green bell pepper, diced
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
Brown meat in large saucepan, drain grease. Add onion, garlic, and green pepper; cook and stir until vegetables are tender and meat is fully cooked.
Stir diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste into the pan. Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer spaghetti sauce for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Serve with your favorite pasta and garlic bread.
Arl, that meat sauce looks so rich and yummy – I’m totally with you about canned tomatoes – I’ve always got some in my cupboard … think they make excellent sauce!
Supper time for me now, infact… tucking into some lovely tomato sauce with fresh herbs from the garden!
