DIY – Almond Brown Sugar Body Scrub

080a

Way back when, I used to sell a brand of beauty products called Jafra.  Jafra had some really good products.  My favorite of all was their Royal Almond Body Scrub.  This stuff was amazing!  It smelled so wonderful!  Not only did it smell great but, more importantly, it made your body feel so soft and smooth.  I seriously sold the products for that alone!  As I know Jafra still has a great line of products, I do believe they discontinued the Almond Body Scrub.

I was flipping though a health and beauty magazine the other day and came across a recipe using oatmeal for a body scrub, it got me thinking … if I replaced the oatmeal with almond meal and added almond oil …and voila!  Almond Body Scrub.

This scrub is wonderful for your face and body, but my favorite way to use it is on my feet! I wet my hands, apply about a quarter-sized amount into my palms and scrub, scrub, scrub!  Usually a minute does the trick.  Then I wash it off with warm water and I have soft, smooth feet!  It’s like an instant pedicure!  Great for aching, tired feet!

I think the crowd over at Fiesta Friday deserve a treat!  A mini spa day!  What could be better after sampling all that wonderful food and drink!  What is Fiesta Friday, you ask?  Click the link below and join the fun!  🙂

Almond Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Ingredients:

1/4 cup almond meal
1/4 cup brown sugar (doesn’t matter, light or dark)
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons pure sweet almond oil (you can substitute extra virgin olive oil if you don’t have almond)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed.  Transfer the mix to a glass jar for storing.  Store in the fridge for up to a month.  Use a decorative jar or tin for gift giving!

To use:  Apply to body and scrub.  Wash off with warm water.  Keep in refrigerator until next use.

When you’re ready to use the scrub again, just remove it from the fridge and allow to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. You will need to stir the contents of the jar together again, as it will settle and separate.

Use once a week to exfoliate your face and body, and up to twice a week for really rough areas such as hands and feet.  A Mani/Pedi in a jar!

  2. Oh Wow! This does sound amazing! Especially in the summer when I am rarely out of flip-flops my feet are a disaster area, so I think I need to try this! I also did some DIY beauty product making this week – a lavender coconut oil moisturiser for my Mum – super easy and quick and also a really relaxing treat! It is amazing how easily you can make things which are just as good (if not better) than their pricey store-bought alternatives! Thanks for sharing at Fiesta Friday! 🙂

  3. I always see people making homemade body scrubs and I always thought it’d be way too complicated or I’d need weird items – but this looks awesome and easy to make! I’m all stuffed up right now, but even I can almost smell how wonderful it must be!!

  4. Very innovative, Arlene! I figure I can use my less than fresh almond meal for this. Bought so much of it when trying out macarons. Good to know I can use it for body scrub, too! 🙂
