When I think of Pecan Caramel Candies, Turtle Doves, I always think of Valentine’s Day. I guess it is because of all the years I would get a red, shiny, heart-shaped box of them from my Ex-husband. I think he liked them more than I did; he usually ate most of the box! I had just a few of them myself, I must confess. I saw this recipe and thought I would make them for my little Valentine, my son, who loves caramel. This is an easy recipe of the store-bought version of a favorite candy. Wrap them up in a pretty box and you have a yummy Valentine gift. 🙂
Pecan Caramel Candies
1 heaping c pecan halves
1 bag chewy caramel candies (Brock’s, Werther’s)
1 c white chocolate chips
1/2 c milk or bittersweet chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate chips)
Heat oven to 350. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the pecans in clusters and place a caramel on each cluster. Bake until just melted, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate according to package directions. Spoon the chocolate over the caramel-covered pecans,. In a clean bowl, melt the milk chocolate according to pkg directions and drizzle over the clusters. Refrigerate until set.
